Story board
Below is our story board which we will use when filming to give us an idea of what shots we are after and how we want them to look. Throughout filming we will try and stick to this ,however ,we may vary the shot types used if we believe one works better than the one chosen, also we may change the order in which it appears on here as after filming we may find some shots work better together . When editing we want to include tagline which will appear on a black screen so this will alter the storyboard slightly, however we believe we shouldn't include them until we have an idea of the order of appearance. The storyboard overall will give us a general idea of what shots we need to film and the sequence in which they may appear in.

1)starts with a blank screen then the title/logo of the production/distribution company slowly fade in - fitting in with the genre of thriller-Here the soundtrack will fade in and out after the logos have been shown, starting the tension for the film
2)LS of two teenage girls sat on a bed talking whilst looking on a laptop- starts half way through a conversation making it look realistic - helping to create verisimilitude as its a natural setting
3)the screen then may goes blank and cuts to the next scene - (actresses names may appear here )

4) Ms of the two girls talking- shows reactions - normal teenagers
5)CU of the protagonist face- reaction to what the an said-first sight of her obsession starting to grow
6)cuts to a recording of the two girls on skype - obsession with 'horror story' starts to grow - hinted slightly during the convo

(all lighting is dark-only light from a lamp)
7) Antagonist on the bed re-watching horror story murder - facial expression - smirk - plot twist as the audience begin to realise that she isn't normal
8) a separate shot of her writing a to-do list (shown in a high angle cu)-planning the murder
9)cuts to the protagonist watching 'horror story'- MS showing her facial expression - scared hiding behind a pillow

10)cuts to the shot of the antagonist- obsession growing as she cuts/scribbles her friend face out of the picture
11) protagonist sat on the stairs having a phone conversation with someone - warning her about her friend but she refuses to believe she would do anything( ms making her look vulnerable to the audience)
12) ms of antagonist recording a video diary - saying how she's recreating the scene from 'horror story' and how she plans todo this to her friend- indicating to the audience her plan shows her obsession going too far...

(The soundtrack builds here until it fades out at the end to create tension and fit the genre)
13)a LS of the antagonist sharpening her knife / checking it - representing psychological thriller as its building tension till the end by also having the soundtrack build up here
14)As the tension build it leads up to this point as she goes to kill her friend - LS as the an kills the pro by grabbing her from behind - the shot continues until she has passed out on the floor
15) titles and info regarding the film appear leaving it on a clifthanger -attracting the audience to watch the film

Resources and Equipment we plan on using during our production...

Flash Card Deck created by shann.neal with GoConqr

Below is a table of what responsibilities we have to complete within our group and how we have planned to share the tasks between us, making sure we share the responsibilities equally. During filming/editing our production we will try and aim to stick to this table, however, we may find that in some places e.g. with lighting we may have to split this between us if one person is filming. This will vary depending on the situation but we aim to split the work equally between us.

Risk Assessment

We have considered all the potential risks hazards we are likely to face whilst filming and have identified ways we can overcome/prevent them from happening.

In order to improve our editing skills, we decided to find some final cut tutorials

We found a specific user on Youtube who made Final Cut Pro tutorial videos - with the new update. They're simple to follow and can really advance our production as we didn't know that was an option before. We chose this tutorial as it makes the text flicker (he shows this at the start) and we feel this would include more of a tension building tone into our production as if it forebodes something will happen. It looks modern and advanced yet also fits into our genre.

We also chose the slow motion tutorial to learn from because it is a convention that breaks the realism of the shots and therefore, connoting a thriller. Although we already knew how to do this on final cut pro, he offers an option to make it seem more real and smoother. We could include this at and part of our trailer - but we think it would work better at our ambiguous ending.

We've seen this variation used many times in productions as it allows the piece to portray itself as more professional. Also, to complement the genre of thriller - this editing technique can be varied in order to create a similar effect to this but multiple times. This makes the screen seem as if it is moving but the imaging stays the say - again, another way to break the realism of the trailer.

The vine above would be very useful for our photo montage in the establishing shots, the transition is smooth and is better than just adding in a type of cut.

Again, we feel we could use this towards the end of our trailer during the montage of video shots and it's unusual and includes tension. We want to use this between the positive and negative shots to enforce the idea of good vs evil.

The soundtrack above is the type of music we would want to play all the way through the trailer. For the reason being it starts with a calm, slow rhythmic tone and gradually begins to build up into a faster, quicker paced and louder tone. We feel this would be clear to the audience that the tension is building and is foreshadowing negative events that unfold in the film. For the start, this is a prime example of the soundtrack we want behind the montage of photos. However, the end seems slightly too dramatic for our thriller, as this seems to match more of a action sub-genre rather than a crime or psychological.

The film on the time at: 00:00 - 01.00 (The hills have eyes), 02:00 - 03.00 (Final Destination) are again very similar to how we want to achieve our soundtrack. Especially 'The hills have eyes' because the soundtrack gradually increases to a faster paced. Final Destination does do this, but at a faster rate - so if spread out more, this again would be a prime example. Another thriller in this video, 'Dead Silence' which isn't what we want to achieve. Due to the pace building immediately and having too much of a quick pace and low pitch, which seems to be from an action thriller or not appropriate for the trailer.

In order to overcome copy-right issue, we will use different clips of sound and edit them together on Apple's software 'Garage Band'. We will find the clips on websites such as 'SoundCloud', a free streaming and non-copyright website.

The example above the sort of sound that we would want to build on when going into the middle when the tension first begins to build. As the sound is a low pitch and slow pace, it allows us to easily build up with other sounds to create the soundtrack we would want.

The above sound is an example of the clips that we would build on the sound above this one. These sounds allow us to add the narrative - this example would be added onto the end in order to support the narrative of the ambiguous ending of if the protagonist dies or not. Filming Space:
Below is a plan of how we plan to film in our two locations, showing where we plan to place the camera/tripod along with our two actresses. This will help us when filming as it gives us an idea of what space will be best to set up the equipment whilst still getting the best shots possible as both the locations are quite shot of space.
